EA has reported my cable company (comcast) that I tourrented a expansion pack. Twice. Usually for seasons. Really EA? Sorry that I don’t wanna pay 50 bucks for WEATHER. in a game about LIFE.

Ok, let me get on the soapbox and have a big rant.
I’m Australian, and let me tell you about legal access for movies, video games, music and television shows down here.
We get a pretty shitty deal.
Video games are often released later than the rest of the world and when we finally get it there’s often a price difference of about 30% even on the digital download. So while in the US you pay $60 for TS4, we are paying $90. And that’s a fairly mild example - pricing can be completely ridiculous and arbitrary.
Movies? Surprise surprise, big movies often come out about a month later over here than anywhere else in the world, so basically we get to sit around and wait for the release of the Hobbit and have it ruined for us on tumblr. We can’t even buy an overseas dvd release to try and watch it legally due to region locking, can’t download it earlier - but hey, we can pirate it. (Also, the cinema costs $16 a pop with no concession)
Ditto with TV shows. Let’s take Game of Thrones, for example. The only way you can legally watch Game of Thrones down here is on Foxtel, meaning you have to subscribe to the whole cable package, for a minimum of 24 months, for at least $50. Plus installation. For one program. Even iTunes doesn’t offer it.
I won’t even go into music, because you know the deal. Inflated iTunes prices for the same music you get in the US.
Now, I’m not defending piracy. Anybody who pirates knows what they’re doing isn’t legal, and to be honest a lot of people I speak to who pirate content would love to be able to buy their content legally and at a fair price. For example, if I see a game made by a small developer, fairly-priced, that they’ve done a good job on (same with movies, music) I’m more than happy to support them. But what big companies like Foxtel and yes, EA (who, let’s face it, have super-profits), do to their customers is really a joke.
Piracy isn’t right, but when the money you spend on a lazily thrown-together game wouldn’t even cover half of your weekly rent for a one-bedroom flat (and we have some of the highest housing prices in the world here) - you make do.
Media companies? Work on creating quality content, releasing it at competitive prices and at the same time as everywhere else in the world. Then, maybe more people will be willing to pay to support content.
Le end.

I redecorated the nightclub a bit and let Annie play around in it (and busk!). I really love the new way sims interact, with the conversations between multiple people and all. It’s really well animated! But what’s still getting to me, even with mods, is the damn lighting. Like, in the first picture, all the chairs are coloured the same but that one stupid chair still sticks out like a sore thumb because of the false lighting. And that’s after placing lamps everywhere (they’re a lighting necessity more than a decoration!) to try and minimise it. Not impressed in that regard :/

They’ve done an undeniably good job on this world - all the little details are great. I’m still having a hard time adjusting to a ‘closed’ world, though. I mean, as far as performance goes it’s great, and I like the idea of having only decorative houses (again, for performance). And playing by district doesn’t bother me too much. I just wish the could’ve maybe struck a medium between this style and sims 3 style. Another reason why I can’t make the switch completely :)

Use Tab in live mode, it works almost exactly like the Tab option in TS3 except faded objects remain faded no matter how much you move and you can’t control time while in Tab mode.

Oooh, thanks! I was actually using it when I was playing before and it was a big help, especially for photos. I can’t play with it on for too long, though because I’m a huge multitasker and like to check all motives and all that while my sims complete their actions. I’m impatient :P

This is the only shot I’ve got, and oh GOD I need to download that lighting mod because I can’t even photoshop this to make her visible. And I know I’ve failed when I can’t fix a picture in photoshop ;)
This is my sim Annie who I’ll be using to explore. Eventually. When I get around to it and want to mess with taking photos with the stupid sims 4 camera again. Oh, and my computer really doesn’t like this game, it constantly screams. Did I mention I like the sims 3? Haha

Around the Sims 4 | Review
Curious to know what I think about the Sims 4? Here you go! I can give you a hint: I enjoy it much more than I thought I would. Don’t blame me for having fun! :p
(la version française est ici!)
Also, Around the Sims 4 is still under construction, but you can already bookmark aroundthesims4.com! Warning, the sims4.aroundthesims3 might change at some point, so be sure to bookmark aroundthesims4.com, because this one won’t change for sure.

A fun and interesting Sims 4 Review from one of my favorite Simmers people on the planet! Also, hooray for aroundthesims4! *kermitflail*

Sandy, this is such a helpful review! Thanks for linking up to the mods…it’s funny but those are mods for the two things that bothered me the most (and I was even wondering hmmm, I wonder if there are mods for that!).
Everyone read for a really fair and well-rounded review :)

So I MAY have finally got sims 4. I’ll be playing and posting, but I doubt I’ll make a permanent switch. For now, this is still a predominantly sims 3 blog.

Any sims 4 posts (and sims 3 for that matter) are tagged as such if you’d like to blacklist :)

Ugh, there’s currently a politician from my state (funnily enough, from a side of politics that I loathe, but that’s not the point) who’s currently in the media because she’s claiming to be Aboriginal. But a key Aboriginal leader who she is apparently ‘related to’ has come out and said: “This woman is not a part of my family.”

I just think that’s so…ugh. Like, I’ve got very distant Aboriginal heritage but I wouldn’t dare ever claim to be Aboriginal, or worse, tick the boxes on my government forms. Sure, I’ve got a bit of blood, but I live completely like a white person and have no links to my distant heritage in the slightest.

I mean, I just find that plain offensive, especially as being Aboriginal isn’t actually much of a drawcard at all - having your history and culture systematically wiped out to this day, having less opportunities, discrimination, we know what all those issues are.

Stupid, stupid, offensive woman. UGH

Then again she also suggested we up our military capacity to protect from attacks from the Chinese so I dunno what I was expecting

Had so much fun decorating this house! I tried to do it in the kind of light-wood scandinavian style that’s apparently ‘in’ right now ;) it belongs to Lola & Lucy and since they’re both girls I had licence to add lots of pinks and feminine touches!

There’s a studio and a spare bedroom, wink, upstairs that I haven’t furnished yet. In my game they’re both arty types - Lola’s a violinist and Lucy does sculpture and glass-blowing - so it’ll be a perfect opportunity to use all that premium content! :)

I’m actually liking still being a sims 3 player because it means people are pumping out less badly-made clothes and hair retextures, thus rendering mysims3blog an actual useful resource rather than something I have to wade through for hours. Huzzah!
